Airbrush makeup...flawless coverage but not for everyone

As some of you may know, I will soon be offering airbrush makeup to my clients. However, I will still be using traditional makeup as well, because as you will read below, airbrush is not for everyone.

Some ideas I picked up from a course with a famous makeup artist to the stars in NYC about airbrush makeup:
-Not for mature skin
-Not for extremely blemished skin...it will only accentuate the flaws
-OCC primer is the best primer (whether using airbrush or not)
-Concealing is done with concealer, NOT airbrush makeup
-Use a goat hair eye shadow brush when applying concealer, press it in lightly, and bring concealer down under the eye to the TOP of the cheek. Also make sure to dab blemishes and over the eyebrow (this is one of the tricks you won't read in magazines...but it helps give the celebs the flawless look we are all after)

Natural Cosmetic can also cause irritation and allergic reactions

Hamburg - Natural cosmetics can cause skin irritations and allergic reactions similar to ordinary cosmetic products, dermatologists say.
Consumers should thus be careful when selecting a new product, said dermatologist Antje-Ulrike Wagner in an article published in the November edition of a German pharmacy magazine. Generally, contact allergies to herbal ingredients seldom occur, but people with sensitive skin should test a cream on the inside of the arm for three days before using the new product on the face.
As natural products are entirely without preservatives, they are particularly susceptible to fungi and germs, said Wagner. Consumers therefore should ensure their fingers are clean before putting them into the jar or buying products available in tubes. (dpa)

Thank you for making Jennifer Ballard Makeup Artistry the 2009 Bride's Choice Award!

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Jennifer Ballard Makeup Artistry has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility.

This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Jennifer Ballard is one of the very best makeup artists. Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews. “We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Jennifer Ballard Makeup Artistry would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award

Face Shape Part 1 Oval, Round

This will begin part one of how to decide which makeup to use based on different face shapes.

Oval
-Considered ideal face shape
-About 1.5 times longer than it is wide
-Doesn't require any corrective highlights or low-lights

Round
-Just about as wide as long
-Looks best with lowlights under the cheekbones and highlights above them applied in vertical strokes
-Blush should be immediately along the bottom edge of the cheekbones
-Use a bit of highlight on the chin as well
